Dr. Clarence Red III

Joliet | New Lenox | Wilmington
Dr. Clarence J. Red III grew up in New Lenox and Joliet, Illinois. As a boy, Dr. Red was influenced by orthodontics and nursing. Dr. Red’s father, Clarence Red, Jr., practiced orthodontics in Joliet and Morris, Illinois, for over 30 years. His mother, Una, was a midwife and a registered nurse at Cook County Hospital, and later in life, a volunteer nurse at the Will County Medical Clinic. It was during Dr. Red’s formative years that he became interested in pursuing a career in orthodontics as a way to help people and initiated his desire to incorporate dental and medical missionary volunteer work into his practice.

Dr. Red excelled in academics, fraternity life, and research while attending Xavier University of Louisiana. During his college days, Dr. Red was published in Chemical Physics Letters for the research on “Zintyl Phase Materials Effect on Semi and Super Conductors.” Upon graduation from college, Dr. Red began dental school at Loyola University in Chicago and graduated from dental school at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. Dr. Red completed his formal education at Case Western Reserve University Dental School Department of Orthodontics in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1995. Dr. Red gained expertise and appreciation of growth and development at the Bolton-Brush Growth Center. He obtained valuable experience in orthodontic mechanics through his work at the CASE clinic.

In addition to Dr. Red’s passion for orthodontics and growth and development, he has focused much of his professional energy on helping others who are in need or disadvantaged. He frequently participates in dental, orthodontic, and church mission trips, and organized dentistry. He has participated in mission work with Angel House Orphanage and Secondary School in Tarime, Tanzania, St. Jude Hospital in St. Lucia, West Indies, and First Presbyterian Church of Joliet. In addition, Dr. Red is a current board member and delegate of the Will County Dental Society, and past president, past vice-president, and past secretary-treasurer.
