Braces Care on the Road

Summer is here! The sky is blue and full of bright sunshine! It’s time for road trips with friends and family! Read on to learn what you need to know before you go about braces care on the road so you can be prepared.

Braces Care Before You Go

One of our top tips for braces care on the road is simple: see your orthodontist before you go! You never know what could happen when you’re traveling, between trip delays and new ideas for spontaneous fun, so it’s a good idea to schedule your next appointment as closely as possible to your departure date in order to avoid missing any necessary appointments, just in case something unplanned comes up.

Braces Care Packing List

Another great tip: make a packing list to ensure that you don’t leave any braces-care essentials behind! Items that should be on the list include your toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, floss threader, and dental picks (it’s always a good idea to pack a few extras of these in case they get lost or to keep some in your bag for when you’re out and about).

Basically, it’s important to pack anything you normally use to keep your teeth and braces in top shape!

Braces Care Snack List

One of the most complicated things about braces care on the road is figuring out what to eat that’s safe for your braces. It can make things a lot easier to keep a list in your pocket of unsafe foods, and maybe some favorite healthy safe foods too, to help remind you when your stomach is grumbling and you’re tempted to snack on whatever’s available.

Protecting your braces from damage is especially important when you’re traveling because loose or broken wires and brackets can be uncomfortable and it can take a lot longer than usual to get to your orthodontist for a repair.

Braces Care Emergency List

When traveling, it’s also important to always keep your orthodontist’s number on hand in case of an emergency. Even if you’re far away from home, your orthodontist can help you figure out whether you need to see a local orthodontist or if they can help you troubleshoot the issue until you get back.
